Thank you Beau. There is so much we don’t know for certain, and these answers with our personal additions are the human honesty that’s appreciated by those of us sincerely asking the questions.
I copied this into my ‘inspirational and wise thoughts’ notebook this morning. Was very happy to have these answers ready when disagreement broke out at bible study this afternoon. Thank you (again).
Beau, I cannot tell you how much the quote about God being at least as good as the very best person you know means to me! I lost my 15 year old granddaughter to bone cancer and have struggled mightily ever since.....trying to still believe in the goodness of God. Thank you. And I am anxious to check out the book by Kristin.
“I don’t know” may be one of the most spiritually mature sentences in the language, which is probably why religious people have spent centuries trying to avoid saying it. Certainty is great for assembling IKEA furniture. Faith gets a little weird when we pretend every mystery came with an Allen wrench and illustrated instructions.
This is both interesting and helpful. My snarky answer at home is usually "I don't know, have you asked Ms Google?" which for some reason, doesn't go over that well. LOL! But this is really a thought provoking set of tools which I know will come in handy. Thank you.
Beau, this is such an incredibly helpful resource. It's the perfect companion to the conversation prompts I offer readers in "The Other Side of Certainty"... especially in the chapters on family and friends. 🥴 Thank you for that beautiful recommendation. It sounds like this book might just be perfect for this community! 🙏🏼
It’s been a while since I have read a post that suits so many questions so well. Thank you, Beau.

Nice. And sometimes, "I don't know" is a complete answer. But I do like adding the pastoral part for when that's helpful.
