Welcome to Becoming Mainline.
If you’ve ever found yourself burned out by evangelical hot takes, exhausted by culture wars, or just spiritually tired in general…you’re in the right place. This newsletter is for people who haven’t given up on Jesus but aren’t sure what to do with the version of church they grew up with.
I write about faith, culture, and the church with two goals in mind:
To be honest. No smoke, no mirrors, no “10 steps to a perfect quiet time.” Just real wrestling with Scripture, theology, and what it means to follow Jesus in 2025.
To be hopeful. Because if the gospel is anything, it’s good news…and if it doesn’t sound like good news, then we’ve missed it.
Think of this as a conversation at the corner of deconstruction and discipleship. Less “us vs. them,” more “pull up a chair and let’s talk.”
And yes, I call it Becoming Mainline. Not because I think the mainline church is perfect, but because I believe the mainline tradition has something desperately needed in our cultural moment: depth, beauty, and grace big enough to hold all of us.
So if you’re spiritually curious, religiously bruised, or just tired of harmful Christianity…this is a space for you.
You won’t find easy answers here. But you will find honest questions, ancient wisdom, and a Jesus who keeps showing up in surprising ways.
Subscribe, stick around, and maybe…just maybe…you’ll find yourself becoming mainline too.
Cheers!
