Amen! This also reminds me of when they asked the Dalai Lama how he can still be so joyful after being exiled, responded: āThey took everything from me. Why should I let them take my happiness too?ā
Beau, your piece wonderfully captured the whimsy of Eugene Peterson who had a remarkable talent for lightly (sometimes not so lightly) mocking the boogie man of harsh reality with the lightness of child-likeness. Thank you for a snapshot of sanity this morning.
My seasonal depression kicked in last night before I went to bed. I think I need to sit in the sad a minute, but will come back to this post when I'm ready to find joy again.
I have often but not always been aware of and naming joy but not so in the recent past until I read this line āJoy is an act of resistance.ā som time before 1/20/25. These days I often tend to other things but before too many days go by I remember to seek out the word joy and remember the holiness and abundance of j-o-y. Love this piece. Ty.
Thank you. I needed to hear all that this morning. ā¤ļø

I needed this reminder today, Beau. Thank you!
Aw, Iām glad it hit home. š
I love this. I like to sit in the silence first, let the noise drain out, and then call to mind the ones who loved me into being.

I so appreciate you, Robby!
One of my favorite things that God shows us is how sadness and joy are NOT mutually exclusive!
You're exactly right!

You're welcome, Linda! Blessings to you!!

That is fair! Take the time you need to feel all the things. Sending you all the love, Tara.
