From Altar Calls to Open Tables
A video about "getting saved" and receiving grace

You already know this space as Becoming Mainline—where I write about shifting faith, radical grace, and discovering God in unexpected places.
Behind Mainline is a deeper, more personal layer of that.
In the video below, I share how the shift from altar calls to open tables reshaped the way I understand grace and salvation.
Every Friday, paid subscribers will get exclusive access to these Behind Mainline videos.
While all my Tuesday essays remain free, these behind-the-scenes reflections are a small way to say thank you to those who support this work financially.
Your generosity makes it possible for me to continue dedicating personal time to this content.
Here’s this week’s Behind Mainline Video:

I love what you are doing with your writing and these videos. I was born and raised a Southern Baptist like you. I have observed with great sadness how the fundamentalist takeover of SBC has evolved into Christian nationalism. Sometime I would like to share my journey and my mother’s front row seat to the takeover beginning in 1982. Your message today resonates with me as we take up the cross daily. I don’t remember my “alter call” or my baptism as a young child. From what I have seen the Methodist method is the way forward for me. See you Sunday.
